Since last Thursday afternoon I've basically been out for the count. I am just now - a WEEK AND A DAY later getting over The Cold of Death! Its really been a tough battle - mostly in regards to my breathing ability. It seemed like every time I walked upstairs, I was out of breath; every time I had a coughing fit, I was out of breath! I am just about over it, so I'm hoping to make it back into the gym tomorrow. I went last night as a supporter and observer, it's much easier for me to think about going back since I was there mentally last night. Kris made a good point that if I can get my butt to the gym, then I can at least work on lifting or something. That's a good thing for me to remember if I get this sick again in the future- NO EXCUSES!
In the mean time, I finally received an interview date and time for my oral exam! A week from today at 9:15 at The Academy. I realized that as these tests keep coming, my weight stays the same, I need to get into my weight bracket, and that means losing about 25 lbs. Physically I'm getting really strong and in shape but it would be for the best if my weight reflected that. So, the answer is the PALEO ZONE DIET. This is the diet that most crossfitters recommend so I think this is my best option. I started doing research yesterday and made my first PALEO ZONE meal last night! I got a lot of my best info from : Robb Wolf's Blog which is where I also got the following links: CROSSFIT JOURNAL 21; Zone Block Calculator; Paleo FAQ. Feel free to check those out! They are all great tools to get you started or at least get you acquainted with the idea of Paleo and or Zone Dieting.
Last night's Dinner:
Sesame Asparagus and Shrimp Steamers with an Apple and Almond Butter
My plan requires 4 blocks for dinner:
4 blocks Protein:
Shrimp = 6 oz.
4 blocks Fruit and Veggies:
Asparagus = 24 Spears (2 blocks)
Apple = 1 whole (2 blocks)
2 teaspoons:
Almond Butter
Cut Spears in to bite sized pieces toss in pan, begin to steam (cover with lid)
Add cooked shrimp, pinch minced dry onions, dash of sesame seeds
Steam some more but make sure its not burning
Chop up one apple, dip in almond butter for dessert!
REALLY TASTY MEAL TOO! I was REALLY FULL when I was done.
More recipes to come as I can imagine them (or find them on other sites)
check out these two for some inspiration!
