Week 1 in Alaska...

The trip to Alaska had always been a looming 2 week black hole of no crossfit and bad eating that I had been trying to plan my life around. As in, "after my trip to Alaska I'll be hardcore on the paleo plan" or other similar qualifying statements. It has been a rough week without extensive exercise and moderately indulgent food. Everytime we get finished eating I am really full. Then, it seems like we have to eat again!! True, we have had a lot of seafood and beautiful fruit- but what about those fresh made donuts, specialty desserts or the bottle of wine we seem to polish off everynight at dinner? I feel like my waistline is growing and my muscles are shrinking. Yes, I am aware that a change that fast in the opposite direction of where I was headed seems a bit unlikely; BUT it's good for me to note how terrible I feel based in the lack of a proper diet an exercise program. Tom and I decided a week off for Crossfit recovery was good but now it's time to break out the jump ropes and put our sneakers on to head to the fitness center.
The fitness center has a nice variety of dumbbells and a rowing machine, but beyond that it's treadmills elipticals and stationary bikes in a smallish room. It is workable though. In the meantime we are doing a few excursions that have physical activity involved: class 3 river rafting, bike riding tour, and city walks. It's no comparison to the amount on crossfit but it's better than nothing!

I'll try to update again soon. Thanks for checking in!
