CF New Kids on the Block!






CrossFit North Hollywood had two new people checking out the gym last night. Including our friend Leanne T. Leanne had never done CrossFit before so she was reasonably scared. The warm up and skill were a total workout by themselves. The warm up was GI Janes (aka, Burpee box jump pullup - my LEAST favorite), an 800 m run, and push press (jerks). Leanne did an awesome job on all of these but especially on the ppj's. She really took Kris' instruction on form and she really improved from the first time she lifted that 53# bar all the way through! I was totally impressed! I could barely lift the bar by itself when I first started and she's got 20# on top of that! Great Job Leanne!

The WOD:

AMRAP - 15 mintues

Max Reps (keep count) of Push Press Jerks
100 m sprint
10 Knees to Elbows

Because of my sprained and swollen ankle, I warmed up with a 500 m row, and 4 rounds of 10 supermans, and 10 situps. (why yes my abs DO hurt today!)

For the push press jerks, I used two 15# dumbells. I thought I was supposed to do 20 so I did, but really it was max reps so I guess instead of taking so long and resting them on my shoulders I could have gone for more rounds. Turnsout this was a better decision. I had 100 reps total! :)

The -GIMP- WOD:

AMRAP - 15 mintues

100 m sprint - More of a jog...
10 Steam Engines

I was able to get through 5 rounds, which I thought was pretty good! (Coach seemed to think so too!)
