CrossFit North Hollywood does CF Games Wod

Tuesday night's WOD for time:

3 rounds:
30 wall-ball shots Rx'd for men: 20# / Rx'd for women 15# (I did 10, but will do 15 from now on for wall balls)
30 squat snatches RX'd for men: 75# barbell / Rx'd for women 45# barbell (I did 33#)

This is the same as the final WOD they did on Saturday at the Crossfit Games! Luckily I was really able to use what I saw there to help me out with my squat snatch form and how to make my wall balls more efficient. Once we got going in the work out, Kris reminded me to keep my elbows straight and point them outwards, and to push my chest forward. I kept forgetting to keep my elbows straight but when I forced my chest out, it automatically straightened my elbows. (Amazing how that works right?) Once my form improved, I was really able to get under the bar fast. It was actually fun. I really like hang squat snatches, it makes a person feel powerful! I had a pretty good time of 22:17. I powered through almost every set of each excersize in groups of ten. I almost puked but it was awesome! Here's a short video of how to do the movement - I couldn't find one that included the squat just yet so for this one, pretend that there is a full squat once the bar is overhead and then you stand up. Its a fluid movement. H

My foot cramped up on me in my first set, but I worked through it. Kris told me later that it was because I'm always on my toes, when I should be on my heels. It's my biggest weakness. I'm not sure my shoes are really doing me any favors either. This weekend at the Games, we were able to try on Vibram FiveFingers. They felt really different than anything I've ever had on my foot before. They basically are just thicker foot soles for your feet that are shaped to mimic your bare foot. When I was walking around in them they let me feel so much more of the ground. Not reccommended for sharp rocks. BUT, they will help me keep my heels flat for lifting and squatting, and keep me on the balls of my feet for running. A bunch of us are planning on getting some, myself included. If you see them in a store you should definitely try them on!
