CrossFit North Hollywood's Newest Member (ME!)

This post is a few days late....

Tuesday was my second Crossfit class. I officially became a member crossfitnoho.com YAY!
So since I signed up for a years worth I refuse to waste any class time! Tuesdays and Saturdays are my poison right now, we'll see if that schedule works out. So this week we did:
Partner: Grace

"Diane"

3 rounds
  • -21
  • -15
  • -9
  • Handstand push ups Dead lifts 72lb. !! ( 4 - 10lb weights on a 32lb bar)

I was pretty stoked I pushed through the pain and finished in 6:17! The trainers said I had great dead lift form - I definitely was trying hard to make sure i was keeping my legs straight/bending at the hips, keeping back straight and keeping the bar touching my legs. Once you get past your knees you bend them. and go all the way so the weight touches the ground then you go back up with a similar form. Although I realized I probably could have done regular pushups instead of the knee ones I was happy with my performance.

I couldn't do the handstand push ups so I did knee pushups in that spot.

Warmups:
I COULD do a couple handstands and THAT was pretty exciting! The main thing you need to remember is bend at the waist. put your arms in the air and clench your shoulders and GO!

Also we did a heavy ball toss (15lb) Tom was my lucky partner so he had to put up with my crappy lobs.

We had to do:
Chest passes Side Throws Up in the air throws Up in the air throws with burpees

By the way, i think i bruised the muscle on the pad next to my right thumb! ouch

Here are the muscles that feel pretty worked:

My pecs, traps and deltoids are definitely sore. Also the biceps and abs got a good butt kicking.

Its amazing how not actually doing obvious ab work helps to work out the ab muscles. Its absolutely one of those full body workouts every time.

My lower back, hamstrings and glutes felt the burn as well. Its strangely gratifying how the soreness makes me feel good, proud, accomplished and always wanting to work harder!

Below: my wrists and forearms are a bit sore but I know that this will really help to strengthen and steady my 'trigger hand' as well as hopefully relieve some of the carpal tunnel issues I have had in the past. Overall! GREAT WORKOUT! Scared AND excited for Saturday ... now if I could JUST get myself on that Paleo diet I would (literally) be in great shape!
