Happy Hour Clean and Jerk

Happy Hour.

Happy Hour at CrossFit NoHo is a class on Fridays from 530-700 where we can pick any wod or lift that we want to do as individuals, in pairs or as a normal group WOD depending on what everyone wants to do.

This week I wanted to do a 1 rep max lift. I really like Olympic Lifting. I decided to do 1 rep max clean and jerk. (Lucky for me this SHOULD help with tonight's 'Rematch of Dutch's Challenge')

I was able to really work on my form - it's really just repeating the form properly and eventually you won't have to think about it step by step, but more as one fluid motion. My max was 103#! I was really quite proud of that! I went for 113# but I couldn't even clean it. My traps were out of commission for the day after that. I'm not positive what my previous was but for Dutch's Challenge last month I was only able to clean and jerk 63# - and I remember struggling quite a bit. I think I must have improved immensely!

After the lifts, Leah and I wanted to try to find our max height box jump. I know that I have basically ZERO 'hops' - I was pretty much scared to try ANY height. First I did just the red box which is 24": Great I made it. Then we added a 25# bumper which equals roughly 2": Phew Barely made it. Third round we added a 10# Bumper which is about an 1.5" (i think)= 27.5 or 28": Wow I can't believe I made that... We switched the 10# for a second 25# bumper to equal 30" and I FAILED. FAILED MISERABLY! I basically splatted on top of the box on my stomach and bruised my shins pretty bad. Apparently I'm a pansy because I think my bruises hurt and I treat them like little badges of honor, but in reality everyone else seems to have WAY more 'badges' than me; and not only way more but way COOLER ones! ANYWAY - here's a picture of my pink and bruised shins right after contact was made. Also check out Leah's picture of nailing the 3 feet mark!
